Roy C. King

Roy C. King, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born on February 28, 1933, in Earm, Oklahoma, to the late Raymond and Opal (Naumann) King. Roy graduated from Liberty Morris High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University. He later earned his master’s degree from New Mexico State University and his administrative certificate from the University of Tulsa. His first job as an educator and coach was in Hitchita, Oklahoma. He continued teaching math and coaching at Liberty Morris, and Morris followed by several years in New Mexico. He eventually returned to Oklahoma, where he had a long and distinguished career in education, working at several schools and touching the lives of countless students and teachers. He worked as a math consultant for Okmulgee County and taught math at Okmulgee Tech before settling in at Morris Schools, where he served as principal and later became the superintendent. After six years, his dad gave him the opportunity to farm full-time, so that's what he did for several years. After that, Roy returned to education as superintendent, girls basketball coach, and math teacher at Mid-Way, where he worked until his retirement. In addition to his teaching role, Roy wore many hats throughout his career in education—serving as coach, bus driver, and mentor. He was always ready to step in and fill whatever role was needed. On August 4, 1962, Roy married Linda McCullah in Morris, Oklahoma. Together, they dedicated their lives to education and shared in numerous business ventures, including operating King's Lonetree Feed Store for over 20 years. Roy’s love for ranching and farming was unwavering, and he spent much of his life tending to his cattle and enjoying life outdoors. Despite his passion for teaching, Roy’s heart truly lay in the land, and he found joy in every moment spent on the farm. Roy and Linda were proud of their family and could often be found cheering on their children and grandchildren at their various activities. Roy was also a man of adventure, always eager to travel and explore new places. Roy was deeply involved in his community, serving as a member of the Lions Club and as Mayor of Morris. He was a dedicated member of the Morris United Methodist Church, where he served in every leadership role on the church board and even sang in the choir. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him in every endeavor and relationship. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Carl King, Leota McCurry, Wayne King, and Ray King, as well as his in-laws, Buck and Ruby McCullah. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda; son Kent King; daughter Kim Davis and her husband Tim; grandchildren Kayla Rush and her husband Brandon, Kenley Davis and his wife Kelly, Brooke King, and Madison King; great-grandchildren Keegan Davis, Blakely Davis, Ezra Rush, and one on the way; and his siblings Kathryn Hendrix and her husband Chester, and Wilma Goodwin. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Morris United Methodist Church with Pastor Kendall Warren officiating. In leiu of flowers the family suggests making memorial contributions to the Morris Methodist Church, 601 South Hughes Ave., Morris, Oklahoma 74445.
