Rhonda Kay Frederick

Rhonda Kay Frederick passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born April 30, 1962, in Okmulgee to Calvin J. Kelley and Kay Kelley. A proud graduate of Okmulgee High School, Class of 1980, Rhonda went on to attend cosmetology school. After working as a stylist, she took a leap of faith that would shape the next chapter of her life by purchasing a local beauty supply store on Main Street. Renaming it Beauty Plus, Rhonda owned and operated the business for 18 years, becoming a familiar and trusted face to countless patrons. If you came in for one thing, she made sure you left with exactly what you needed, plus a few things you did not know you needed and probably a little life advice on the side. Even after closing the store, Rhonda remained the family’s go-to beauty expert. She loved helping others look and feel their best. Her chair was more than a place for beauty. It was part salon, part therapy session, and part “tell it like it is,” whether you asked for it or not. She later started a kennel business, raising beautiful puppies that became beloved members of countless families, though letting them go was probably harder than she let on. Rhonda enjoyed time with family and friends. She loved camping trips, cookouts, and simply hanging out, playing cards, talking a little trash, and laughing until everyone else was crying. Her laughter was loud, contagious, and impossible to ignore. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing with Jr. They spent countless hours along the shores of local lakes, ponds, and rivers. If you were fishing with Rhonda and caught one, you better move fast, because she was already eyeing your spot and had no problem taking it. To Rhonda, it was not just fishing. It was a competition, and she fully intended to win. Her greatest joy was her son, Shane, and the time they shared together. She loved holidays and had a way of making them extra special, never simple, never quiet, and always full of love, and probably a little chaos. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Randy Kelley. Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Kay Kelley; her husband, Jr Chronister; her son, Shane Frederick; and her stepdaughter, Traci McCann and husband Matt; her sister, Michelle Bilgrien and husband Todd, and their children TJ, Eli, and Ethan Bilgrien; her nephews, Calvin Kelley and Ryan Kelley; her niece, Kaylee Milligan; and her grandbabies, Kinsley and Mason McCann. Rhonda will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her creativity, and the way she made everyone around her feel seen and valued. She left behind a lifetime of memories, a whole lot of laughter, and more than a few people still guarding their fishing spots. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and the community she served with pride. Friends may visit the funeral home from 3:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 22, 2026 with the family present to receive friends from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Liberty Baptist Church with Reverends Jeff Ward and Steve Basquez officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be T.J. Bilgrien, Eli Bilgrien, Ethan Bilgrien, Calvin Kelley, Ryan Kelley, Austin Bullard, Bill Chronister and Joe Ducote.
