Karen Ruth Davis

Karen Ruth Davis, age 67, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at Clarehouse surrounded by those who loved her. Karen Ruth Hamon Davis was born on October 20, 1958, to parents Joyce Aldridge Hamon and Edgar “Bucky” Hamon in Okmulgee, Ok. She was preceded in death by her brother, Daren “Buster” Hamon and her son John Russel Davis, Jr. She is survived by her parents, loving husband of 48 years, Rusty Davis, her daughter Angie Davis Been and husband, Chad Been of Okmulgee, one grandson, Ayden Been, a niece Summer Hamon, and partner Will Ramey of Okmulgee, and one great-niece Oakley Ramey of Okmulgee, her Uncle Don Aldridge and wife Marilyn, several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Karen spent many years serving her community through her work and her heart for others. She worked as a bail bondsman and travel agent in Okmulgee before later working for U.S. Cellular in both Okmulgee and Tulsa. In the years that followed, Karen devoted herself to caring for her grandson and her mother-in-law, a role she embraced with love and selflessness. She also spent time working for an attorney before choosing to stay home during the past ten years. Karen was a devoted and loving wife who cherished her marriage to her husband, Rusty. She looked forward with joy to his retirement, excited for the opportunity to spend more time together and travel. Over the last couple of years, they have been able to spend long stents camping and fishing. She found her greatest joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. Her favorite place was Okmulgee Lake—her “Happy Place”—where she loved camping and spending time outdoors with family and friends. Even as her health challenges began, Karen remained determined to make memories. Three years ago, she traveled with Rusty, Angie, Chad, and Ayden on a memorable trip to Utah, Arizona, and Las Vegas—an experience she treasured deeply. Karen was immensely proud of her daughter, Angie Been, and her many academic accomplishments. She admired Angie’s dedication to education and her 27 years of service at OSUIT, where Angie has helped guide and support countless students along their educational journeys. Karen often spoke of her daughter’s strength, recognizing in her the same determination, compassion, and resilience she carried herself. One of Karen’s most treasured joys was becoming “Gigi,” a title given to her through Angie that filled her heart with pride and deep love. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandson, Ayden, at his baseball games, proudly believing he was always the best. Karen also enjoyed cooking for church group outings, visiting with friends, and opening her home to others. Karen was immensely proud of her son, John, and his service to his country. She supported him with unwavering love as he served in the military during the Afghanistan war and often spoke with pride about his dedication and courage. Karen was equally proud of John’s academic achievements, celebrating his commitment to earning two college degrees. During his time in active service, Karen leaned deeply into her faith, praying daily for his safety and placing her trust in the Lord. Her strong faith sustained her through those difficult days and reflected her belief in God’s protection and purpose. Karen also adored her son-in-law, Chad, who held a special place in her heart. She often called on him to be on her side whenever she felt someone was playfully “picking” on her—a role he embraced with humor and loyalty. Chad lovingly called her “Mom,” and their bond was filled with laughter, mutual affection, and a shared sense of family that Karen cherished deeply. Known for her kindness, gentleness, and deep love for Jesus, Karen had a heart for helping people. She welcomed others into her home, supported them as they found their footing, and served as a trusted listener and sounding board for friends and family alike. Karen listened without judgment, loved without condition, and encouraged others with quiet strength and compassion. Although her health had been a struggle for several years, Karen never gave up. She continued striving to grow stronger and refused to let illness keep her from family gatherings, camping trips, or making memories. With hope and determination, she was planning one of her dreams—an Alaskan cruise with her beloved husband, Rusty, and cousin Debbie Manns, a journey she looked forward to with excitement and faith. Karen spent her final week at Clarehouse in Tulsa, where she was surrounded by peace, comfort, and compassion. She was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff, whose kindness and dedication provided comfort to Karen and unwavering support to her family during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Clarehouse in Tulsa, in appreciation for the compassionate care they provided and to help support their mission of offering comfort and peace to others in need.
