Helen Pauline Scott

Helen Pauline Scott, 93, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully at the Plantation House in Okmulgee on December 21, 2012. Born in Okfuskee County, Okemah, Oklahoma on May 7, 1919 to William Matt Earnest and Lucy Ann Webb Earnest. Helen attended and graduated from Oriental School at Oriental, Oklahoma. She married Carson Scott on December 26, 1945 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and they were happily married for 43 years. Helen was a member of the Okmulgee Chapter of Eastern Star and a member of First United Methodist Church of Okmulgee for over 60 years. She was always committed to staying busy and keeping a positive attitude. Helen was very caring with a kind and gentle spirit, independent, always determined and hardworking. She enjoyed sewing, caring for plants, and making sure her friends, neighbors, or caregivers had a cookie, piece of cake or a treat of some kind. Her family and friends will also remember her for her unique sense of humor, and the enjoyment she received from visiting with her many friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; an infant child, George W. Scott; her husband, Carson; one brother, Russel Earnest of Okmulgee; two sisters, Betty Faye Overall of Okemah and Dorothy Child of Livingston, Tennessee; and one brother-in-law, Stanley O. Dixon of Tulsa. She is survived by: one daughter, Janice Sue Crumpler and her husband Charley of Gore, Oklahoma and sister, Dolly Thomas-Dixon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers Bill Earnest and his wife Judy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Glen Earnest of Okmulgee; brother-in-law Raymond Overall, of Okemah, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Leota Earnest of Okmulgee; and her grandchildren Chris Crumpler of Gore, Oklahoma and Amanda Dixon and husband Rusty Dixon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and her great-grandchild Madilyn Dixon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and a niece, Glenda Mueller of Livingston, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held at the Okmulgee Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 with Reverend Brian Matthews officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to the administration and staff at Senior Star Plantation House for their many years of kindness and care as well as to Cornerstone Hospice for their loving care. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church.
