The Lord called Wilma June Brown Talley, age 85, home on Friday, November 22, 2019 from Rogers, Arkansas. Wilma was born August 17, 1934 in Natura, Oklahoma and married Franklin A. Talley on December 22, 1951. She was always a gentle and quiet spirit of much value to God. She will be remembered forever for her sweet smile, classy style and grace. Wilma was a member of the Okmulgee Church of Christ and very well known for her beautiful singing voice. Her heritage was of the Muscogee Creek Tribe. She was a creative artist, scholar and a skilled writer of poetry and verse. She loved sewing, embroidering, designing, history, science, reading, debating and politics. She actually read their entire set of The Book of Knowledge, maybe several times. She subscribed to and read The Wall Street Journal, The Okmulgee Daily Times, The Henryetta Free-Lance, the Morris-Herald News, the Tulsa World, the Tulsa Tribune, The Oklahoman and the Oklahoma Times newspapers. Much like Eleanor Roosevelt, Wilma kept herself very well-informed and discussed ideas. She had a beautiful and thought-filled mind. Researching was her hobby. She had a long record of service to her Church, family, friends and community. Married at the age of seventeen, she was a highly intelligent and articulate asset to her pre-deceased husband, Franklin A. Talley, and her two surviving children, Dr. Mark A. Talley and Pamela E. Talley-Parker. She lived in Georgia to be close to her husband, Frank, while he served in the Army. She worked diligently for many decades in her husband’s insurance offices on East 7th and 8th Streets in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She selflessly and generously answered the telephone, greeted customers and passed out calendars, pens, sodas and chewing gum at Franklin A. Talley Insurance. She also received her real estate broker license in Oklahoma. Wilma was predeceased in death by her husband, Franklin A. Talley, their daughter, Susan A. Talley, Wilma’s parents, Ruby Eleanor Brown and Woodrow Lewis Brown,Sr. , and her son-in-law, Stuart Brent Parker. Survivors include her son, Dr. Mark A. Talley and his wife, Dr. Carole B. Talley, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, her daughter, Pamela E. Talley-Parker, her three grandchildren, Mark Christian Talley, Joseph Connor Talley, Talley R. Parker and his wife, Ashley E. Parker, and their son, Henley Brooks Parker, and her brother, Woodrow Lewis Brown, Jr.. Wilma also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Martha Jane Rowe, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives, neighbors, friends and acquaintances. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Okmulgee Church of Christ with Kevin Copeland officiating. Casketbearers will be Dr. Mark A. Talley, Joseph Connor Talley, Coy B. Talley, Woodrow Lewis Brown, Jr., Woodrow Lewis Brown III, and Talley R. Parker. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.
