Born in Pawhauska Oklahoma to Joseph L Blair Sr., and Mary Page Blair on a working farm, Virginia never shied from hard work always helping her parents with daily chores and caring for her younger siblings Following her marriage and birth of her son and daughter in Oklahoma, Virginia moved with her children to California in search of employment opportunities and to raise her family. She worked as a secretary for California Farm Bureau and eventually for Kaiser industries becoming their first female Executive in Oakland California. Raising her children as a single parent, Virginia, as an expert seamstress, took in sewing to supplement her income and support her children. She learned the skill of upholstery, made wedding gowns, taught herself to make jackets and coats using suede and leather even turning old coats inside out, resizing and remaking for her children. Following her retirement in California, Virginia returned to her Oklahoma home to help care for her aging mother and other family members. She obtained employment working as a clerk in the Okmulgee Bankruptcy Court. Additionally she worked helping senior citizens and volunteered for AARP and other community needs. Virginia is lovingly remembered as the most intelligent, creative and giving lady. She believed strongly in the power of education, awaking each day seeking to learn something new. She loved sharing her life experiences, talents and memories with family and friends. An outstanding and creative candy maker, bread baker and made the best fried chicken and cornbread ever! She took up painting on canvas as a way to comfort her mind memorializing visions of the family farm and other childhood memories. She enjoyed life and was a friend and mentor to many. Virginia was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her. At her request, no services will be held. I will love you eternally mama!
