Rodney Alan King

Rodney Alan King was born October 10, 1967 in Okmulgee to the late Carl Eugene and Mary Lou (Hopkins) King. He passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas at fifty-five years of age. Rodney grew up on a farm and was his father’s helper from an early age. He graduated from Morris High School in 1985. Rodney then obtained his Associate Degree from Conners State College and Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. Rodney worked as the Muskogee County Extension Agent, where he enjoyed his work with the 4H and Ag Education Programs, and loved helping the kids and farmers. On January 27, 1995, Rodney and Amy Barrett were married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Rodney loved souped-up fast cars and even drove a race car for a few years. He enjoyed tearing things apart and rebuilding them. He had served on the Morris School Board and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Morris. Rodney was a big supporter of his kid’s activities. He was a positive person and he loved people, always finding the good in everyone. Rodney will be remembered for living life to the fullest. Survivors include his wife Amy King, children, Kallee King, Jasper King and Daniel Brush, sister, Karla James and husband Bryan, brother, Roger King and wife Sherry, father and mother-in-law, Andy and Kathy Barrett, brother-in-law, Tony Barrett and wife Trisha, sister-in-law, Amber Ellis and husband Matt, nieces and nephews, Kassi Wilson and husband Austin, Bailey King, Blake King and wife Morgan, Brylee King, Taylor Barrett, Tatum Barrett and Reese Ellis. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. A funeral service for Rodney will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 11, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church of Morris. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Morris United Methodist Church, 601 South Hughes Ave., Morris, OK 74445 Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
