Peggy Louise Ellig

July 22, 1935 - November 20, 2020

Peggy Louise Ellig, a longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Friday. November 20, 2020 in Tulsa due to complications from Covid-19. Peggy was born July 22, 1935 in Weleetka. She graduated from Weleetka High School in 1953 and on November 23, 1955 she married Charles Dewayne (Strawberry) Ellig. They would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this year. They moved to Okmulgee in 1957. Peggy enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and cooking. She was a very active member of the Extension Homemakers Club, where she served as past president. She was also involved in the PTA for many years. Peggy helped raise many children in her home daycare and later she was a substitute teacher at Westside School. She was a member of the Wilson Thimble Club and the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Reddick and Lillian (Murray)Donovan and her husband, Dewayne Ellig. Survivors include her children, Kim Priegel and husband Frank and Kyle Ellig and wife Melissa, grandchildren, Kaitlin Holiman and husband Destry, Paul Priegel and wife Kayla, Caleb Ellig and Braden Ellig, great grandchildren, Ashlynd Holiman, Lakelyn Holiman, Addyson Priegel and Ryan Priegel, and brothers, David Reddick and Kenneth Reddick and wife Debbie. Friends are encouraged to visit the funeral home on Tuesday between 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. for a Time of Remembrance. Peggy’s Tribute Video may also be viewed online. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on her Tribute Page of our website at www.mcclendon-winters.com To help protect the health of family and friends, a committal service for the immediate family only will be held at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
