Jan Luaine Swanson

October 22, 1951 - September 2, 2017

Jan Markham Swanson passed away September 2, 2017 at the age of 65. She was born on October 22, 1951 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Bobby and Leota (Thomas) Markham. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1969 and attended Oklahoma State Tech. Jan married Doug Swanson, originally from Bradford, Pennsylvania, in 1971. Their daughter, Amy Beth, was born in November of 1972 and their son, Stuart Douglas, in 1975. Jan later married Leon Hobbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They lived in Van Buren, Arkansas for many years. Jan returned to Okmulgee in 2000. Jan is predeceased by her daughter Amy and her father Bobby. She is survived by her son Stuart Swanson, his wife Lisa and their children Jada and Landen of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her mother Lea Markham of Okmulgee, sister Debi Markham of Tulsa, and sister Susan Robinett along with her husband Tracy and daughters Meg and Addie, all of Tulsa. She is also survived by aunts Helen Brock and Doe Dooley and uncle Denny Thomas of Okmulgee, as well as many cousins. Jan loved the companionship of her mother and enjoyed being able to help her when needed. She was very fond of the state of Arkansas including its beauty and its people. She was especially happy when her nieces chose to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. But above all, Jan was proud of her son Stuart and the loving provider he is to Lisa and her precious grandchildren, Jada and Landen. Private graveside services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Okmulgee Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
