Irene Virigina Antwine, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 91. She was born on April 3, 1931, in Muskogee Oklahoma to William and Lucille Grant Cato. Irene attended Wheatley Schools. At an early age, Irene accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She met and later married the love of her life Willie Antwine Sr. in 1949 in Beggs, Oklahoma. To this union seventeen (17) children were born. She often said her calling was to be a mother and she was right. Not only was she a splendid mother to her own children, but she was also a wonderful, caring and loving mother to so many in the community. She also devoted her time by regularly volunteering in the school system. Irene was a faithful servant and a mother to her church for many years. Mother Irene was not only a church mother, but she also worked diligently in the house of the Lord. Irene loved children, loved people and loved her family. She impacted so many lives over the years with her gift of love. Irene is preceded in death by her parents William and Lucille Cato, three brothers, Wesley Cato, William Cato, and Booker T. Cato. Two sisters, Mercedes Cato Waller and Florence Cato Potts. Three sons, Ricky Antwine, Kenneth Antwine and Samuel Antwine. One daughter, Carol Antwine Elliott. She is survived by her husband of 73 years Willie Antwine Sr. of Okmulgee, OK, eight sons Willie Antwine Jr. (Carieta) Okmulgee, OK, John Wesley Antwine (Sandra) Tulsa, OK, Isaiah Antwine (Wonzetta) Oklahoma City, OK, Alan Antwine (Evonne) Atlanta, GA, Dwayne Antwine (Courtney) Savannah, GA, Timothy Antwine (Patricia) Okmulgee, OK, David Antwine of Oklahoma City, OK, and Brian Antwine (Deandra) Tulsa, OK, five daughters Virigina Robertson (Larry) Oklahoma City, OK, Redonna Antwine of Beggs, OK, Laura Crispin (Jesse) Bixby, OK, Margie Antwine of Tulsa, OK, and Kristi Demery (Rodney) Beggs, OK, one sister Marie Health of Sapulpa, OK, and a brother Lawrence Cato Sr. of Las Vegas, NV. Many loving and blessed grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 1:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at the First Baptist Church South, Beggs, Ok with Minister Brian Antwine officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs, Ok.
