Gladys M. Arnold was born May 12, 1931 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Tony and Mamie Klimek. She passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 in Okmulgee at 90 years of age. Gladys attended Wilson School and graduated from Bryant High School. She married Charlie Arnold in April of 1949. Gladys loved being outdoors, especially working in her flowers. She enjoyed being at the lake, camping and taking walks. Gladys also enjoyed her time visiting with friends on the phone. She was a faithful and longtime member of Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church and later was a member of the Nuyaka Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Sylvia Shelton and Maxine Holt, two brothers, Paul Klimek and Neal Klimek, a daughter, Peggy Herrin and a great grandson, Nathan Arnold. Survivors include her two sons, Jim Arnold and wife Kathy and Andy Arnold and wife Brenda, two brothers, Kenneth Klimek and wife Mary Nell and Johnny Klimek and wife Sandy, a sister, Marilyn Counterman, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Village for their love and care. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Nuyaka Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Wilson Salt Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assisted Living at the Okmulgee Baptist Village. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
