Donna Jean Lloyd

Donna Jean Lloyd was born July 24, 1938 in Okay, Oklahoma and passed away November 8, 2012 in Sapulpa at the age of 74 years. She attended Will Rogers High School and married Ralph L. Lloyd on November 15, 1958 in Tulsa at the Central Nazarene Church. Donna was retired from AT&T as an Engineer Assistant. Ralph and Donna attended the Nazarene Church and Victory Christian. Since youth, Donna has always cared about others; so much so that after graduating from high school, she enrolled in the Hillcrest Nursing School. While at a nursing school Valentine’s dance, she met Ralph Lloyd, a young man who caused her to change her career path from full-time nurse to full-time wife, mother and homemaker. Ralph and Donna raised their three sons in the Central Nazarene Church in Tulsa where Donna had been a member since her teenage years. While caring for her family, Donna also started developing her artistic nature. She started out by paining patio furniture. Once the kids were grown and out of the way, the house was next. Before long, every square inch was painted or decorated. Chickens, geese, frogs, flowers and lighthouses were everywhere and the inside of the house wasn’t enough. Her yard was filled with flowers and plants of every kind. The beauty and fragrance of her gardens brought in birds, squirrels and numerous butterflies. She loved to sit on the porch and watch them. Unfortunately, she couldn’t watch them from inside, so she did the next best thing: she took up photography and painting. She soon had her house decorated with pictures of the oasis she had created outside and with her visions of perfect landscapes. When her home finally reflected the beauty in her own soul, Donna started a quest to enjoy the beauty that God had created in other areas. From the oceans of the carribbean to the mountains of the western United States, to the lighthouses of Michigan, she loved to soak up the colors, shapes and textures of God’s creation. And now, finally free of pain and sickness, Donna is enjoying the beauty of the reality of the presence of her Heavenly Father. She will be sorely missed, but our loss is Heaven’s gain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Ruby Hicks. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ralph L. Lloyd, of the home, three sons, Philip Duane Lloyd of Durant, Roger N. Lloyd and wife Gina of Sapulpa and Bradley Webster Lloyd of Tulsa, and four grandchildren, Lance Aaron Lloyd of Sapulpa, Keith William Lloyd of Sapulpa, Jessica Renee Lloyd Tanner and husband John of Sapulpa and Seth Lloyd of Norman. A funeral service for Mrs. Lloyd will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2012 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harry Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Roger Lloyd, Philip Lloyd, Brad Lloyd, Lance Lloyd, Seth Lloyd and Keith Lloyd. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
