Carl Neal Brigance

December 2, 1933 - November 7, 2019

Carl Neal Brigance passed from this life on November 7, 2019 at the age of 85. He was born on December 2, 1933 in Tate, Arkansas to the late Claude Luster Brigance and Allie (Hurt) Brigance. His birth was attended by his grandmother, Ollie Brigance and a mid-wife near the family farm. He was the third and youngest son. He and his bothers moved with the family to Oklahoma and settled in the Evening Star Community. Carl grew up on the family farm a half of a mile north of the Evening Star School with his two sisters and three brothers. Carl attended the Evening Star two-room school for 8 years and then attended Morris High School. He graduated in 1952 where he was very active in the FFA. After high school, Carl attended OSUIT in Okmulgee where he studied agriculture. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in France until he was honorably discharged in 1955. Following his discharge Carl moved to Odessa, Texas, where he began to work at the General Tire factory. In Odessa he met, dated, and married Virginia Ruth Perry and they established their home there for many years. He and Virginia had two children in Odessa: Deborah Elaine and Paula Jeanette who both where very active and graduated from Permian High School. Upon Carl's retirement from General Tire on 1992, he and Virginia moved to Morris, Oklahoma and established their home on the east side of Morris. He and Virginia were long time members of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee and had many friends there for twenty-five years. All his life, Carl was interested in cattle and livestock, He and Virginia purchased several pieces of land and he raised cattle and some sheep. He loved his Border Collie dogs and raised them also for many years. Carl was an active member of the Gideon's Christian Group and traveled around much of Eastern Oklahoma with the group. Carl was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Odessa where he served as a Deacon. Carl was preceded in death by his folks, Claude and Allie Brigance; his oldest brother Vendall M. Brigance of Lawton, Oklahoma; his sister Ollie Jean Brigance of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ruth of the home; daughters Deborah McBee and husband Mark of Atlanta, Georgia, and Paula Jeanette Noe of Austin, Texas; his brother G.C. "Bud" Brigance and wife Letha of Ft. Gibson, his youngest sister Wanda Payne and husband Tom of Tulsa; sister-in-law Gisela Brigance of Lawton. Grandchildren; Meredith and Mason McBee, Landrey, Lauren, Parker, and Madison Noe. Carl loved the Evening Star Community where he grew up and the people who were his neighbors. A memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Dr. Dennis Taylor to officiate. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
