Vernon LaMont Green

Reverend Vernon LaMont Green, longtime Beggs resident, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 in Tulsa at 62 years of age. Vernon was born April 9, 1952 in Madill, Oklahoma to Joseph Anthony and Billie F. (Long) Green. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school and was Honorable Discharged on May 7, 1976. Vernon then attended OSU-IT and was part of the management team as the original McDonald’s was being built in Okmulgee. This is where he met his loving wife of 35 years. Vernon was a licensed minister and lived his life for the Lord. He was a member of Nuyaka Baptist Church. Vernon and Pam Jackson were married on June 22, 1979 in Beggs. He loved University of Oklahoma and was an avid collector of OU memorabilia. He also enjoyed gardening and refereeing but most of all, loved being with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Anthony Green, mother, Billie F. Adams, step-father, Ora Adams, two brothers, Joe Green and Dub Adams and his father in law, Weldon Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Pam Green of the home, children, Michelle Elmore and husband Billy of Cleveland, Texas, Matthew Green and wife Lacey of Houston, Texas, Kara Rodriguez and husband Joseph of Beggs and Kodi Lozano and husband Robert “Bird” of Beggs, grandchildren, Gabriel Green, Brittnee Elmore, Payge Green, Isaiah Lozano, Maddy Green, Isabella Lozano, Kyla Green, Eva Lozano and Ridley Green, brothers, Robert Wayne Green and wife LaCrisa of Blanchard and Phil Green and wife Kenna of Bethany, sisters, Kathi Bates and husband Don of Yukon and Viola Cowan of Oklahoma City, a sister-in-law, Judy Green of Ventura, California and numerous nieces and nephews. A Service to Celebrate Vernon’s Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverend Jarrod Kendall officiating. Honorary casketbearers will be Tommy Wittman, T.W. Wittman, Mickey Wilburn, Robert Lozano, Joseph Rodriguez, Billy Elmore, Randy Jackson and Robert Jackson. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
