Michael Roy Jordan

Michael Roy Jordan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on October 31, 2021, at the age of 74. Mike was born in Russell, Kansas, on January 29, 1947, and was the beloved son of Jess and Bernice (Dunham) Jordan of Tulsa. Mike cared for both his parents during their lifetimes and is preceded in death by both parents, his maternal grandparents Joseph Oliver and Hazel Dunham of Okmulgee, paternal grandparents Frederick Grant and Jocie Mae Jordan of Preston, maternal uncles Joseph Dunham and Charley Dunham, paternal aunt Edna Mae Jordan, paternal uncle Joseph Grant Jordan, and cousin-in-law Jerry Phillips. Mike will be greatly missed by his surviving cousins Barbara Dunham Holt (Harvey) of Seattle, Washington, Beverly Dunham Brackett Phillips of Tulsa, Connie Dunham Page of Denver, Colorado, Mary Jordan Webb Payne Luney of Preston, Alice Jordan Pinneo of Sun City West, Arizona, and multiple second cousins and extended family with whom he always generously shared his love of knowledge, history, and books. Mike served in the U.S. Air Force in the 857th Medical Group. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University where he was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Scholastic Honor Society. He received his nursing degree from Tulsa Junior College and his emergency medical technician associates degree from Tulsa Vocational Tech. During his lifetime, Mike saved the lives of many of his fellow humans through his work in the emergency rooms at various medical centers, but especially at the Claremore Indian Hospital. He followed his father and became a member of the 71st chapter of the Masons. Throughout his life Mike was a dedicated bibliophile and to the end remained fascinated by new knowledge and ideas and his love of art and the heady joy of finding a real treasure hiding in used books stores throughout eastern Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
