Loyd L. Salyer

Loyd L. Salyer, longtime Nuyaka resident, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at M.D.Anderson Medical Center in Houston. He was 60 years of age. Loyd was born August 31, 1952 in Okmulgee to the late Arthur Lee and Wanda (Crawford) Salyer. He married Kathy Hamon on August 10, 1973 in Okmulgee. Loyd worker at Ball Brothers Glass Plant for 18 yrs and for the City of Okmulgee. He then worked for 18 years at Beggs Public School where he recently retired as Maintenance Supervisor. Loyd helped build the Nuyaka Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member and served on the Building Committee. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and entertaining friends and liked to hunt, fish and camp. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on pony and wagon rides. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home, children, Kim Spradling, of Okmulgee, Tim Salyer and wife Cheryl of Hitchita, Tammy Jones and husband Justin of Beggs and Gary Bynum and wife Shellie of Beggs, grandchildren, Stephanie Spradling, Sam Bynum, Sara Bynum, Katy Jones, Alison Salyer, Jayme Jones and Halia Salyer, brothers and sisters, Danny Lee Salyer and wife Marilyn of Wynette, Ok, William Ercy McCall of Holdenville, Ok, Donny Bruce McCall and wife Dot of Okmulgee, Barbara Jean Salyer of Okmulgee, Mary Kathern "Kathy" Kimzey and husband Donald of Okmulgee, Betty Louise Wood of Okmulgee, Rhonda Lee Moore and husband Jason of Eufaula, Ok, Arthur Lee Salyer Jr. Of Okmulgee, Joey Dale Salyer of Okmulgee, Jimmy Dean Salyer and wife Patty of Okmulgee, and Jennifer Lynn Owen of Morris. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverend Jarrod Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be William McCall, Donny McCall, Arthur Salyer, Jr., Joey Salyer, Jimmy Salyer and Larry Hamon. Honorary casketbearer will be Danny Salyer. Friends may visit the funeral home on Monday from 10-8 P.M. The casket will remain closed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nuyaka Baptist Church Building Fund.
