James "Abe" Davis

James A. “Abe” Davis passed away on January 1, 2018 in Tulsa. He was 75 years old. Abe was born to the late James B. and Gail C. (Buchanan) Davis in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on Monday, January 5, 1942. Abe graduated from Morris High in 1960. He married Janice R. Wise on May 27, 1961 in Okmulgee. Abe attended Connors State College for two years and then Northeastern State College for two years. He enjoyed playing on his bobcat, listening to music, and watching old western movies. Abe traveled and loved spending time with his grandkids and going to all their activities. He worked for Byron Jackson Pump for several years. Abe was also a cattleman and was an Independent Oil Producer. He was a member of the Morris United Methodist Church where he was active with the Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Okmulgee Cattleman's Association, Okmulgee Memorial Hospital Board, Morris School Board, and Morris Masonic Lodge, where he recently received his fifty year pin. Preceding Abe in death are his parents. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jan Davis, of the home, children Tim Davis and wife Kim of Morris, Rick Davis and wife Anna of Morris and Terri Bare and husband Edward of Owasso, grandchildren Kayla Rush and husband Brandon of Kihei, Hawaii, Kenley Davis and wife Kelly of Blanchard, Kelsie Davis of Morris, Lee Davis of Morris, Taylor Graham and husband Cody of Broken Arrow, Cambrie Helscel of Owasso, and Hallie Helscel of Owasso, great grandchildren Keegan Davis, and Colten Graham. A funeral service for Abe will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Morris United Methodist Church with Reverend Tracy Hoskins and Reverend Dave Kelley officiating. Friends may visit the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Morris on Thursday, January 4, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. for visitation. Interment will follow at the Morris Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Max Shoemake, Bill Golden, Jr., Jim Darnell, Lee Davis, Kenley Davis, and Cambrie Helscel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris.
