Ira Gene Arrington

Ira Gene Arrington was born February 19, 1928 to Clyde and Jewel Arrington in Lyman, Oklahoma and passed away June 22, 2014 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clyde (Huck) and sisters Beyrl (Patricia) and Nellita Pearl. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie of the home, brother C.R. Arrington and wife Becky of Cleveland, Oklahoma, sister Felisha of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son, Ira Gene (Rocky) Arrington, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter Stephanie Johnson and husband Terry of Amarillo and son Blake (Stony) Arrington and wife Carmen of Okmulgee. He is also survived by grandsons Eric Johnson and wife Kristy of Guymon Oklahoma, Brennan Johnson of Morris Oklahoma and Tyler Arrington of Okmulgee, granddaughters Ami Thomas of Davenport, Florida, Kara McInnis and husband Dave of Lawton, Oklahoma and Heather Arrington of Tulsa, Oklahoma, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene served in the Black Sheep Squadron of the Marine Corp. out of Eltoro California under Pappy Boyington. Gene worked for Phillips petroleum for 32 years before retirement in 1985. Gene loved his garden, loved to burn small burn piles, and mow all of his neighborhoods grass. Pa pa Gene was extremely passionate about his Morris Eagle sports. Following two generations on the football field, basket ball court, and both softball and baseball diamonds. He was also an avid Sooner and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Along with his beloved San Francisco Giants on the diamond. Gene loved to bird hunt and fish. He was a tremendous husband. Father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all of us. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend David Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandsons, Eric Johnson, Brennan Johnson and Tyler Arrington and nephews, Mark Arrington, Marty Arrington, Pat Arrington, Steve Arrington, Kevin Arrington, David Dodd and Tim Dancey. Friends may visit the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
