Charles E. Coyne

Charles E. Coyne, a long time Miami resident passed away at his home on January 29, 2012 at the age of 78. Mr. Coyne was born on December 15, 1933 in Estella, Oklahoma to Emmett and Theresia (Altebaumer) Coyne. He was a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a Radarman Third Class when he was honorably discharged. On September 5, 1960 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, Charles married the love of his life Patsy Griffith. They lived in the Vinita area for a short time before moving to Miami. Mr. Coyne worked at B.F. Goodrich where he cured tires and then worked as a final inspector. He also worked for years as the janitor at the First Christian Church. Charles coached little league baseball for over twenty years and was involved with the city league basketball in Miami as well as being a Scout Master for Troop 51. For fun, Mr. Coyne loved to tease and love others, but most of all, he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Theresia Coyne, a brother John Coyne and a sister Betty Bennett. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Patsy Coyne of the home, his children Lee Ann Coyne, Charles R. Coyne and his wife Ruth, all of Miami, David A. Coyne and his wife Lori of Prescott, Arizona, his brothers and sisters Bill Coyne and his wife Paula of Tulsa, Barbara Paiskums and Rose Roberts both of Mesquite, Nevada, Peggy Grippando and her husband Tom of Krebs, Oklahoma, along with six grandchildren Maddie Coyne, Kieran Coyne, Elijah Coyne, Austin Coyne, Claire Coyne and Jordan Coyne. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Miami. Mr. Coyne's Memorial service will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Miami with Ministers Leon Weece, Gary Reed, and Jerad Joslin officiating. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. The family has ask that memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church in Miami.
