Betty Lou Woodfield With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Lou (Sunny) Woodfield on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her home peacefully in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Betty was born September 19, 1934, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Walter Sunny and Ellen (Barnett) Sunny. Betty attended Rocky Hill, Nuyaka Schools and then graduated from Nuyaka High School in 1954. Her parents passed very early in her life and eldest brother Eugene Sunny and eldest sister Josephine (JoJo) Sunny raised her. She has always been very grateful and honored in their sacrifice to do that for her. She grew up walking to Honey Creek Methodist Church with her siblings every Wednesday evenings and all day Sunday Services. She dedicated her life very early to the Lord. Along with the love of her church, she also enjoyed listening to and traveling to see the “King of Western Swing” Bob Wills at Cains Academy Ballroom. She also loved attending the games, listening to or watching her Oklahoma Sooners on the TV. She worked at Ball Brothers Glass plant briefly and the Muscogee Creek Nation in the Departments of Higher Education, Community Health Representative, Home and Family Aid Services and the Creek Elderly Housing for 28 years. In addition to her parents and all of her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Woodfield and oldest son Steven Woodfield. Betty is survived by her youngest son Samuel Woodfield, 3 Granddaughter’s, 8 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great great Grandson, several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend always thinking of others before herself. “To know her was to love her.” Everyone that knew her would say; “She always had a smile on her face.” Betty Lou Sunny Woodfield’s selflessness, warmth and generous spirit will be remembered forever. Visitation for Betty will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 12:00PM-6:30PM, at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee. A wake will take place after the visitation from 7:00PM-8:00PM. Funeral Services for Betty will be on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:00AM, at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dan Sulivant officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Walter Sunny, Randy Thomas, Thomas Sunny, Haden Dunn, Kale White, James Alexander, and Mike Posey. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
