Adelena (Lena) Smith

SMITH, ADELENA ‘LENA’ MARIE (BOENISCH) AdeLena Marie (Boenisch) Smith, 92, went home to be with her Lord on July 10, 2011. Lena was born December 13, 1918, in Nada, TX. She was the daughter of Edward Stephen Boenisch and Leona Ida (Eggemeyer) Boenisch. She was retired from Ball Brothers after many years with them in several locations. She was an accomplished seamstress, making her family’s clothing, as well as draperies and slip covers. She enjoyed flower gardening, canning and cooking for her family. Lena married Eugene ‘Gene’ Charlie Smith, June 8, 1936. They lived in Okmulgee, Texas, California, Louisiana and Alabama. Unto this marriage three children were born. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, sewing, crochet, cooking and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Okmulgee Four Square Church. Preceding her in death are her parents Edward & Leona Boenisch, her loving husband of 41 years, Gene Smith; daughter, Joan Ruth Daniels; sister, Johanna Boenisch; brothers’, Gerhard Boenisch and Otto Boenisch; and great grandson Derrick Eugene Daniels. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Arlan and Betty Smith of Shawnee, OK, and Dallas and Jennifer Smith of Mounds, OK; 15 grandchildren; Randall & Trish Daniels of Claremore, Renae (Daniels) & Wesley Sweeten of Oklahoma City, Mark A & Cynthia Daniels of Conway AR, Sharvella (Smith) & Jesse Tipton of Shawnee, Dennis & Leen Smith of Edmond, Curtis & Amy of Shawnee, Jordan & Mari Smith of Okmulgee, Mikayla Smith of Mounds; 16 Great grandchildren and 5 spouses; 9 great-great grandchildren, 2 Step- great grandchildren, 2 step great-great grandchildren, brother, Edmond and Mary Boenisch, Arlington TX; Sister, Dorothy and Max Vorauer, Shavamo Park, TX and sister-in-law Dora Boenisch of San Antonio, TX. She also leaves behind a loving extended family of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who have been touched by her love and kindness. Honorary Bearers are: Randall Daniels, Wesley Sweeten, Mark Daniels, Dennis Smith, Curtis Smith, and Jordan Smith. Public visitation will be Thursday, 9 am until service time at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. . Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 pm at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, Okmulgee, OK.
