Kenneth Roland Wilson

Kenneth Roland Wilson was born the only child to the late Fred and Myrtle “Peggy” (Simnett) Wilson on November 20, 1936 in Drumright, Oklahoma. He passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 in Okmulgee at eighty-six years of age. Kenneth graduated from Drumright High School and was inducted into the United States Army on January 14, 1959. He married the love of his life, Donna Mae Bowles, on July 3, 1959 in Chandler. Kenneth received an Honorable Discharge on January 13, 1961 and transferred to the United States Army Reserve. Kenneth and Donna relocated to Okmulgee where he began a twenty-seven year career with the United States Postal Service. After retirement from the Postal Service, Kenneth worked seventeen years at Sherwin Williams and later worked delivering for the Blossom Shop and O’Reillys. Kenneth enjoyed yard work and was known for mowing his neighbors yards. He also enjoyed fishing, watching OU sports and visiting with his friends. Kenneth and Donna were members of Calvary Baptist Church. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Survivors include his daughter, Shawna Thomas and husband Steve of Okmulgee, grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson (Aaron) of Okmulgee and Steven Thomas and wife Melissa of Norman, great grandchildren, Aaron Wilson, Cooper Thomas, Annistyn Wilson, Aven Wilson and Piper Thomas and his sister-in-law, Pat Davis, of Okmulgee. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverends Lawrence Matlock and Johnny Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Don Hale, David Morgan, Jody Wadley, Rocky Lee, Lendel Taylor and Robert Waits. Honorary casket bearers will be David Taylor, Carroll Jones and Burl Cummings. Memorial contributions may be made in Kenneth’s memory to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure at www.komen.org or in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
