Glendell Lee Miller

Glendell Lee “Glen” Miller, 78, of Okmulgee, OK, died in his home in Okmulgee in the early morning hours of October 30, 2018. Glen was born in Okmulgee on July 6, 1940 to parents Duff Beasley Miller and Claude Miller; Glen grew up in Okmulgee and attended Okmulgee High School. While his later service in the Army Reserve and his work as a mechanic intermittently called him elsewhere, Okmulgee was always his home. He was a tinkerer, a homesteader, and a jack of all trades—he was excellent with his hands and crafty as could be. He was famous among family and friends for his art and woodworking projects. He loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman and cared for all walks of animals, instilling an appreciation, love, and respect for nature in his daughter and granddaughter. Glen was preceded in death by mother Duff Beasley Miller; father Claud Miller; uncle Doyal Miller; brother Kenneth Miller; sister Alice Miller Sullins; and nephew Allen Sullins. Glen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jimmie Rae Penn Miller; daughter Michele Lea Berryman and son-in-law Dr. Brian Kent Berryman; only grandchild Natalie Nicole Berryman; brother Cleo Altus Miller and sister-in-law Beverly Ann Miller; nephew Randall Miller and niece-in-law Gina Miller; great-niece Erin Miller; nieces Angela Berryhill and Allison Hazlip; and aunt Jean Miller. Glen is also survived by five beloved pets: Buffy, Zoe, and Shadow, his cats; Hank, his dog; and Elvis, his horse. Despite a small immediate family, Glen is survived by the whole of his hometown community, everyone who knew and loved the toughest and orneriest man they’d ever meet. Now in Heaven, he looks down upon Okmulgee and grins. A funeral service for Glen will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Cleo Miller, Randy Miller, Brian Berryman, Donnie Beasley, Rick Patterson, and Dale Patterson. Honorary Casketbearers will be Bob Guffey and Terry Miller. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, November 1 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
