Clara Whittaker

On January 12, 1939, John and Gertrude Furch welcomed their only daughter, Clara Edna Furch, into the world in Beggs, Oklahoma.  Clara married the love of her life, Herman L. Whittaker, Sr. on January 22, 1961.  She worked for many years in the Beggs School System until her retirement in 2001.  She was baptized at an early age and she was a member of First Baptist Church South, Beggs, OK until her illness.  Clara Loved to read, crochet and garden.  She leaves to cherish her memory; five sons: Rufus Furch of Beggs, OK; Michael Whittaker of Tulsa, OK; Maurice Whittaker of Kansas City, MO; Bryant Whittaker of Tulsa, OK; and Herman Whittaker, Jr. (Kathy) of St. Louis, MO; three daughters: Sheritha Tucker (Sam) of Bristow, OK; Brenda Whittaker of Tulsa, OK; and Vanessa Whittaker of Kansas City, MO; two brothers: Randolph Furch (Willa) of St. Louis, MO; and James Furch of Tulsa, OK; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.  Her husband Herman Louis Whittaker, Sr.,  her parents, two brothers, Clarence and John Furch, her grandmother, Hattie and her uncle Willie preceded her in death.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the First Baptist Church South of Beggs with Reverend Maurice Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in the Northwest Cemetery.  Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 12-8 P.M.  Arrangements are entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.  918.267.4444  Online condolences may be sent at www.mcclenodn-winters.com
