Sylvia Lawrence

Sylvia Estelle Lawrence, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Monday morning, June 15, 2009 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa.  She was 95 years of age.  Mrs. Lawrence was born November 9, 1913 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Dill M. and Lillie Mae (Mitchell) Darling.  She married Joseph Earl Lawrence on June 23, 1943.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee and a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nettie B. Fair Chapter 241.  Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Odell, Pauline, Ellen and Lois and one brother, Jack.  Survivors include her niece and nephew, Nancy and Don Christian, of the home, grandsons, Wayne Christian and wife Jenny of South Texas and Sammy Christian and wife Melissa of Beaumont, Texas and their children, Chase and Brandy.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating.  Interment will be at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma.  No committal service will be held.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.  Online condolences may be sent at www.mcclendon-winters.com
