Fred Dangott
Fred Dangott died on Friday, January 9; he was 84 years of age.
Fred was born on May 10, 1924 to Lucien and Emma
Glean (Clawson) Dangott in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was
preceded in death by his parents and two siblings; a brother Donald Eugene
Dangott; a sister Margie Thomas.
Fred is
survived by his spouse Norma Jean Dangott of Okmulgee, his son, Fred “Rusty”
Dangott of Henryetta, daughter, Sandy Rea and husband Everett of Indianapolis,
Indiana, three siblings; Bob Dangott and wife Alice of Morris, Bill Dangott of
Okmulgee, and Nancy Garver and husband Dr. Garver of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 6
nieces and nephews, and several great-great grandchildren.
Fred served 2 years and 8 months in the Army as an
anti-tank gun crewman.
During his duty he received several medals in
addition to the Medal of good Conduct and a Purple Heart. Fred was very proud of
his military service. One thought that stands out is the he was a diligent and
dependable worker regardless of the task.
Viewing will be Monday, January 12, 2009 from 9:00 to 8:00 P.M. Services will be
held Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist
Church with interment following at Okmulgee Cemetery.
Officiating will be Reverend Craig Denslow. Casketbearers will be Bob
Dangott, Bill Dangott, Sr., Bill Dangott, Jr., Earl Hadley, Rusty Dangott and
Ferd Rucquoy. Military Honors will be
provided by VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee and VFW Post 539 of Henryetta.
