Billy Gene Buckner
Billy Gene “Cvncate” Buckner, 70, a former resident
of Okmulgee, and a resident of Okemah, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Colonial
Park Nursing Home in Okemah. He was
born May 11, 1939, in Okfuskee County, to Annie Sampson and Monday Buckner.
Bill was a highly respected elder among his family members and he shared
his traditional values with his loved ones.
He was a member of Montesoma Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandmother, Lucy
Lewis Bear. Survivors include his
sister, Mary E. Buckner; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Wake services will be held at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home on
Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 6:30 P.M. in Okmulgee.
Funeral services will be held at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home on
Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Fred Jones officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Bear, Yahola-Jones
Cemetery, in Okfuskee County.
Pallbearers will be Tim Good Voice, Kenneth Good Voice II, Patrick Jones, Brian
Jones, Randy Minter, Loper “Roc” Yahola Bear Jones, Tim J. Good Voice, Jeremy
Good Voice, Kenneth Good Voice III, Christian Good Voice, Justin Jones, and
Jared Jones. Honorary Casketbearers
will be Fred Jones, Jimmie Jones, Walter “Sen” Jones, Loper Jones, Joseph
Berryhill, Amos Rabbit, and Don Minter. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters
Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
