Jack O.B. Parker, 95, former Okmulgee resident, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, February 5, 2010 in Rogers, Arkansas. Jack was born June 20, 1914 in Hitchita, Oklahoma to Mack Lee and Edder Mae (Womack) Parker. He was raised in Hoffman and joined the United States Army on July 14, 1942. Jack served in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the United States Army and the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jack and Billye Ray Hogue were married on August 9, 1952 in Okmulgee. After retiring from the military, Jack had several professions, including managing the county tag office, raising cattle and founding Dollar Saver in Rogers, Arkansas. Jack and Billye traveled extensively overseas as well as throughout the U.S. and Canada. Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okmulgee and remained active in the 45th Infantry Division of the 279th Infantry until his early 90's. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Billye, two brothers, Howard and Delious and an infant son, Stephen. Survivors include two sons, Brent Parker and wife Pam of Rogers, Arkansas and Bruce Parker and wife Susan of Elm Springs, Arkansas, a grandson, Talley Parker, a granddaughter, Ashley Parker, a sister, Emma Lou Quinton of Moore, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Craig Denslow officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors. Casketbearers will be Jim Moshier, Bill Cowell, Jim Halsey and Fred Harlan. Honorary Casketbearers will be Olin Harris, John Russell, Dr. J.P. Vanderpool and Jack Harlan. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 12-8 PM.
