Obituary:
Anita Ganus-Garner was born on March 4, 1921 in Marshall, Texas to Emmitte Wilson and Jewel Lee (Philemon) Morse. She went to Heaven to meet her Maker on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. She was 88 years of age. Anita loved getting together with her family as well as her church family nothing pleased her more. She has been a member of the Second Baptist Church for over fifty years. She loved her church and was a Sunday School Teacher most of her life. She started in the nursery and as time passed most of her time was devoted to the Junior Department. The last eight or ten years she taught older adult women. She loved to sew, crochet, read, piece quilts and tend her potted plants. She also enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. A favorite pastime was mowing her lawn which she did at the age of 87. She read her Bible daily and was active as long as her health permitted in the Silvertone Choir, Ball Group, AAARP, Joy Group, Ladies on Missions and the Senior Citizens. Anita took an Interior Decorator course at OSU Okmulgee and took an Accounting course and worked for Hightower Furniture for over 28 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Monroe Ganus on January 12, 1976 and husband Orville ”Buck” Garner on June 14, 2004 and a brother Julius W. Morse. Anita is survived by her three children; Andy Ganus and wife Ann of Harleton, Texas, Rosemary Ganus-Matney and husband John of Eucha, Oklahoma, and Larry Ganus and wife Terry of Tulsa, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Second Baptist Church on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jay Orr officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
