Ruth Marie Mount

Ruth Marie Mount, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Tulsa at the age of 91. Mrs. Mount was born December 2, 1916 to Samuel and Mossie McCullough (Turley) Shaw. She married Orin E. Mount. They moved to Nuyaka in the early 1940’s. and in 1956 they moved to Okmulgee. Mrs. Mount was a member of the Nuyaka Baptist Church and was retired from the First National Bank of Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Fred Shaw, and three sisters, Vinita Atkeson, Afyphee Sue Cranshaw and Bonnie Chesnut. Survivors include her son, Fred L. Mount and wife Lois of Broken Arrow, a brother, LeRoy Shaw of Sapulpa, three grandchildren, Lynn Mount of Columbia, Maryland, Lee Stadthaus of Austin, Texas and Leslie Mayo of Omaha, Nebraska and four great grandchildren. A private family committal service will be held on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
