Edna Moore
Addienile Edna Moore, lifelong Okmulgee
resident, died Friday afternoon, February 22, 2008 at her
home. She as 93 years of age. Mrs. Moore was born May 22,
1914 to Eugene and Willie Gorden and was raised on a dairy
farm north of Okmulgee. She graduated from Preston High
School where she was on the State Championship Basketball
Team in 1930. She was the granddaughter of George Evans, the
first mayor of Okmulgee. She retied in 2004 as bookkeeper of
the Senior Center. She married John R. Moore on August 1,
1950 in Okmulgee. Mrs. Moore enjoyed crocheting, cross
stitch, yard work, motorcycles, basketball, horses, dancing,
western movies, and she loved the Lord. She was a member of
Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church and formerly a member
of the Okmulgee Round Up Club. She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, sons, Hurley Duwayne and James Gorden,
sisters, Mary Harley, Oma Massey and Billy Jean Beasley, and
brothers, Milton Gorden and Albert Aurther Gorden. Survivors
include her daughter, Marquieta Payne and her husband Bill
of Okmulgee, two sons, Marion Massey and wife Beverly of
Okmulgee and Kirk (Buddy Moore) Massey and wife Donna of
Tulsa, granddaughter, Linda Bacon and husband Ken of
Okmulgee and two grandsons, Allen Massey of Tulsa and
Michael Massey and wife Sue of Tulsa, three great
granddaughters, Melissa Hanshaw of Pawhuska, Amy Massey of
Tulsa, and Karissa Massey of Tulsa, great grandson, Daniel
Raasch of Okmulgee and her great great grandchildren, Hannah
Hanshaw of Pawhuska, Elijah Hanshaw of Pawhuska and Kyndall
Brown of Tulsa. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M.
Monday, February 25, 2008 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral
Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Hunnicutt officiating.
Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the
direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
Friends may visit from 1-8 P.M. on Sunday. Online
