Helen Mae Barras

Helen Mae Barras 88, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died in Okmulgee on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. She was born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1920 to Daniel and Ida Mae (Simmers) Cloherty. She married Kenneth Roy Barras 69 years ago in Allegany County, Maryland on October 22, 1938. Helen loved her family and flowers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her parents, a brother Earl Cloherty, a sister Katherine Cloherty, four grandchildren preceded her in death.

Survivors include four daughters; Dala and husband Harold Paine of Luther, OK, Danna and husband Warren Williamson of Carrolton, TX, Donna and husband Frank Koerbacher of Corinth, TX, Debbie and Jim Summers of Wainwright, OK, a brother John Cloherty of Roanoke Rapids, NC. She had twelve grandchildren; Harold Wayne Paine, Dellen LeCompte, Kenneth Paine, Floyd Paine, Charles Koerbacher, Theresa Koerbacher, Rondi Bryant, Tara Williamson, Amy Gardenhire, Matt Gardenhire, Baby Boy Lowell, and Baby Girl Lowell and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, at 2 PM at the Chapel of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Vesta Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-8 PM on Friday at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Koerbacher, Matt Gardenhire, Christopher Bryant, Kenneth Paine, Floyd Paine and Justin Paine. Honorary Bearers will be Shawn Paine, Logan Paine, Ethan Paine and Blaine LeCompte. Condolences may be made at mcclendo-winters.com.
